In contrast, concrete manhole covers are prone to cracks and damage at low temperatures, so they are not recommended for use in extremely cold areas.

Although plastic manhole covers will not corrode in this environment, their mechanical strength is not as good as that of ductile iron, and their load-bearing capacity is limited.

Manhole cover performance: In humid climates, manhole cover materials must have good corrosion resistance. Ductile iron manhole covers can enhance their corrosion resistance through surface coating or galvanizing. Marine climate

Manhole cover performance: In marine climates, high salinity air is extremely corrosive to manhole cover materials. Ductile iron manhole covers require special anti-corrosion treatments, such as epoxy resin coating or hot-dip galvanizing, to resist salt spray corrosion. Resin composite manhole covers perform better in this environment due to their natural corrosion resistance, but their lower load-bearing capacity makes them unsuitable for heavy load areas.

Choosing the right manhole cover material and design depends on local climate conditions. In high temperature environments, high temperature resistant ductile iron manhole covers are ideal; in cold climates, frost-resistant ductile iron manhole covers perform well; in humid and corrosive environments, resin composite manhole covers can provide good corrosion resistance.
